During my first tour, I reminded us about the commitment we all agreed to, which is, to read and review one another’s books. Last year, I read over one hundred of our members’ books. I am tempted to list them here, but I will not. My point is this: There are some of us who joined #RRBC to have their books read and reviewed, not to read and review others. In other words, they are the writers, and the others, the readers and reviewers. They whine and fuss when they are not in the front, back, and center of the review forefront…My advise for these members is, check your book reviews and return the favor to every member who have read and reviewed you. this is the right thing to do.
I made it a point of buying a book from each of the blogs I visited, especially, books by our new member authors, as I have read one, and sometimes, more books by our older member authors. That is my way of supporting them.
The world of the traditional Igbo society of Nigeria is a world in which the dead visit and interact easily with the living. It is also a world in which most of the time the living are at the mercy of the gods.
When 15-year-old Osondu goes missing, his mother searches for her son and faces the same fate. Now they are both missing. There is a thin line dividing the land of the living and the land of the dead, so thin that spirits from both lands coexist. And sometimes in the story, it is difficult to differentiate between the living and the dead. Both have bodies, with the living existing in their bodies, while the dead use borrowed bodies.
Legend of the Walking Dead: Igbo Mythologies is a fascinating journey into the mysteries of life and death of the Igbos. The book draws readers into the Igbo people’s ancient and traditional beliefs of life and death. You will be enthralled.
Joy Nwosu was born in Enugu, Anambra State of south-eastern Nigeria. Her parents were Charles Belonwu and Deborah Nwosu. She is the fifth in rank of the seven children of her parents. Joy was born into a music family.
Joy, now retired, was a music teacher, trained in Santa Cecilia, Rome, and obtained her Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Michigan, USA.
She has written and published extensively on national and international scholarly journals, magazines, and newspapers.
Her short story I Come from Utopia was published in African Voices, Spring/Summer, 2007, pg. 18, and her first English novel; Mirror of Our Lives: Voices of Four Igbo Women was published in 2011, and was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Book Contest in 2012. She has also two books published in the Italian language.
Joy is a trained musician, and taught music for 35 years. She writes, performs, and record folk songs.
Her new book: The Legend of the Walking Dead: Igbo Mythologies, which has just been released, is a journey into the mysteries of life and death of the Igbos of Nigeria. She loves reading romances and mystery stories.

Hi Joy – I’m back from my trip and catching up with the parties and so, although I’m late, I’m not really missing out on any of the fun! 😉 I like the idea of you being the Olympic gold medallist for reading and reviewing! LOL
Seriously though, you’re absolutely right – if someone’s been good enough to review your work, then it’s important that you make the effort to support them back. To become a good writer, you need to first become a voracious reader. You pick up good habits in other words, but part of the process is falling in love with all the words, not just your own! But then you already practice what you preach! 😀

Welcome back Jan! Good to see you here. Yes, the party was great, and we can never stress enough the importance of paying it back in the sector of reading and reviewing. :). I always try to pay back when someone reads and reviews my books. How wonderful it will be if others do the same. Then, as you said, I also do read to improve my writing. :D.

I loved your post and the point you make about reading and reviewing. Since joining RRBC I have learned to quit waiting for reviews and now give them. I am as much of a reader as writer. Joy, thank you so much for a great stop on the Blog tour, and for supporting other authors so diligently. This blog tour has been an amazing tool to help us all get to know one another. As a new member, almost every author was a new discovery. I particularly liked your post, Joy, because I lived in Lagos for two years and — contrary to what people expect — like living there! I was so impressed by how warm-hearted, humorous and hard-working the Nigerians are. I especially loved the fabrics (still own lots of boubous made with cloth I bought in Nigeria) and the music. What a wonderful gift growing up with West African music must have been for you! We also share the University of Michigan connection as that is where I did my undergraduate degree. My cousin married Stephen Bryant, whose father was the choral director (I think) at UoM for years. You may have run into him. Anyway, I have put your books on my TBR list and hope I can get to them sooner rather than later. Have a wonderful day.

How wonderful to hear from you Helena, and to see you here. I can say that I still live in Lagos. I was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Lagos for 23 years before I migrated to the US. I still visit often, as I have a home there.
I cannot recall Stephen Bryant. I was at the U of M from 1978 to 1982. When I was there, it was book, book, book! I had little time to socialize, because, I was on a three year scholarship, to finish my studies, or return without finishing, but I made it. :D. If you still visit Lagos, maybe, we can hook up there sometime… :). Thank you for stopping by.
