“Boko Haram: Davis links funding to agent in Cairo”

This Dr. Stephen Davis whose write-up I read this morning, was a negotiator, a middle man for both Boko Haram and the Nigerian government in 2013, and what he revealed is what we always knew was happening. That some Nigeria’s wealthy, specially those from the North, where nearly 80% of the country’s wealth is held by a few, these are mainly past retired Military generals, who not only ruled Nigeria for the longest period with guns, but also succeeded in amassing almost all the oil wealth into their hands, now use this extreme wealth to sponsor the activities of Boko Haram.

This is not news, in fact it is an open secret if we can call it that. The president himself has always said he knew who they were. The secret service, is said to also know who these people are, but they must be so sacred that no one dares touch them. This is the North’s way of cowing the rest of the country, so that they can rule for ever. But this is a misguided plan, as I have severally mentioned.

The North can only rule for ever if they separate from the South. It is still not clear why the president has not declared a total war on Boko Haram, why he believes that throwing money at the generals will solve the problem. It could be that those same sponsors, whom he claims he knows, some of whom are inside his government, have cowed him enough to silence him into submission. Whatever the case, his actions are suspicious.
