The above is new from Boko Haram. A few weeks ago, the Nigerian government reported that one of their fighter jets had gone missing. I remember having commented on that. After that news, nothing was heard about the jet again. Boko Haram has now come out to claim downing the plane and beheading the pilot. So that chapter should now be closed. At least we know what happened to the missing plane. The way Boko Haram disposed of the pilot is no news at all, nothing different from their modus operandi. Case closed!

We have more of these screaming headlines about Abubakar Shekau’s victory over death. There are many others making the same claims. I have chosen only two to reiterate the fact that his life, no matter how his members want to romanticize it, or how the Nigerian police hinging on his demise, as if the two positions will validate, on the one hand, or end the atrocities of Boko Haram. The comment below, which has been widely reported, is what I believe is actually taking place.
