Day 174! ………………How Did We Get Here? (125)

“Nigeria – A Fractured Giant?”

That Nigeria is a fractured nation is no news. All African nations are fractured nations. The news, as gleaned from the above headline, and the article that followed is that more Northerners, the outspoken ones, want the world to believe that Boko Haram is the birth child of the Christian south, to cause division in the country. The Bible says that a house divided is a house that cannot stand. Nigeria has been divided from the birth of that nation, and the division became more apparent at independence, when the British maneuvered everything in favor of the Northern oligarchy. That Britain or America, as the northern professor alleged, is behind the crack in Nigeria, is true, by the way, but it is like beating a dead horse.

If we are the smartest people in Africa, as we like to claim, what stopped us from reasserting ourselves? Instead, the North played this game of “I-am-mightier-than-you, over everyone until they were at the loosing end. Today they are pointing fingers everywhere else, but on themselves for their failed sense of probity, even when this beast called Boko Haram has their stamp all over it. Whatever their reason for raising this beast that is now devouring them, must have been misplaced in the first place. You cannot bully people into ruling them, nor can you cow people into submission. This is the twenty-fist century for crying out loud. They must stop, restrain and return this beast to the abyss where it belongs

Nigeria will continue to crack, and will eventually reach a point of no return if the northern oligarchy does not take responsibility for their action and recall and restrain Boko Haram. Boko Haram is solely their own making, and this is not the first time they raised a devouring beast.

Day 173! ………………How Did We Get Here? (124)

http://nypost.com/2014/10/13/4-of-the-200-kidnapped-nigerian-schoolgirls-escape-boko-haram/”

The link above takes you to the following headline. “Schoolgirls Flee Boko Haram after 3-Week hike through jungle.” Four girls in all, we are told, who went through this harrowing experience. They were held in Cameroon. They could be some of our girls, but we will not know for sure until we hear from them and hear their story. Again, we do not know whether these are new escapees. My hope is that these would be from the Chibok girls,

“Six months after girls abducted, Nigerians protest near president’s house”

The news about this other headline seems to tell us that President Jonathan does not want to be reminded about the Chibok girls. This time, we learned that he sent out a force made up only of women police officers to wade off the wave of protesting women. That is very creative, women against women. Whatever his logic or reasons behind this decision, this choice of action is not funny at all. My dear president, this is no time for cracking jokes. Get those girls back! Find out from President Biya of Cameroon how he did it, and do the same.

“Why Nigeria Was Able to Beat Ebola, but Not Boko Haram”

Nigeria beat Ebola because, as the writer justly pointed out, Ebola touched every citizen. The concerns cut across language, religion, and culture. Boko Haram is looked upon as a problem of the Northerners. They woke the tiger, they tame the tiger.

“Alicia Keys Organizes Protest on 6-Month Anniversary of Nigerian Schoolgirl Kidnapping”

A big thank you Alicia.

Day 172! ………………How Did We Get Here? (123)

“Protesters mark six months since Nigerian schoolgirls’ kidnap”

Six months is a long time for anyone to be held captive, and for the young girls of Chibok village, six months is simply living death. Those girls are now empty vessels, rubbed of all human feelings, rubbed of their existence, rubbed of their youth. May God hear our prayers for them, and keep them strong. Even broken vessels can be mended, as long as we can still gather the pieces. Those girls must remain in one piece, so that we can pick them up and put them back together when this is all over. God answers prayers.

“Woman found in Nigerian bush was not in schoolgirl group: source”

The lone girl, purported to have escaped from Boko Haram has now spoken, and according to her, she was not among the Chibok girls. She was abducted months before our girls. Her tale is a tale of horror as one would imagine. She survived her abduction, and days in the bush, after being left there to die. Our girls will survive too. Our payers cover them. Four more girls have been rumored also to have escaped. I have asked for caution about them too until we here their story.

“Cameroon vows to ‘totally wipe out’ Boko Haram”

Cameroon has shown with this, that they are more humane than Nigeria. The president of Cameroon told the world that when it come to human life, we should not be talking about money. The important thing here is that he got his captives back home, twenty-seven of them, by every means possible. Will President Jonathan take a leaf from this? I doubt it.

(We will continue.)

Day 171! ………………How Did We Get Here? (122)

“$9.3m Arms Deal: Presidency Clears Oritsejafor”

The debacle surrounding the smuggled cash has now fully played out. Th government accepts responsibility for the cash and exonerates the pastor, whose plane was used to smuggle the cash. Fine with me. The pastor has to be more careful in the future about who uses his plane. This does not mean that the government is fully transparent. Billions were released to the Military for arms, and they are fluting a miserly millions. What happened to the rest of the money? Moreover, if the president is claiming not to be $100,000.00 rich, he should not just sent out a disclaimer, he should be willing to be audited, then we will believe him.

“Pursued by B/Haram… and nature •Borno women harvest babies in refugee camps”

Questions, questions, mountain of unanswered questions. News has it that many of the women abducted by Boko Haram, are breading children in the camps at an alarming rate, but no one knows whether the women came to camp already pregnant or not. No one knows who the fathers of the children are, as if the women cannot talk. If this news is true they should make the women talk. Let this not be another conjectured story to make us begin to weep for our girls, because we are not weeping.

“Soldiers shoot selves •To avoid deployment to Boko Haram communities”

This has been long coming. I have expected this kind of thing to be happening. However, this is Military matters. Let the Military deal with it.

(We will continue.)

Day 170! ………………How Did We Get Here? (121)

“Boko Haram girls follow sunset to freedom”

Another piece of news was circulating this morning, celebrating the escape of four other Chibok girls from their captors. This is fresh news, different from the one girl that escaped three weeks ago. Again, I will go with caution on this one. It may be a hoax just as the first one. No one now knows what game Boko Haram or the Nigerian Military is playing here. Is Boko Haram letting these girls escape on purpose, and why? The Military should get these escaped girls talking. We want to know who they are and how they escaped. We want to know the condition of the other girls. Until they tell us all these, we will remain in doubt about who they really are.

“Nigeria: Good News From the Trenches”

The good news is that the Nigerian Military is currently beating back Boko Haram, and retaking some of the towns they invaded. That is very encouraging. The president should reinforce the army even more and give them better and more incentives. President Jonathan should also watch closely, the activities of some of the generals, from sabotaging this news efforts, as they have done in the past, I mean, the in-house informants.

“Nigeria: BBOG to Mark Six Months of Chibok Girls’ Abduction”

Yes, it has been six months since those girls were forcefully taken. Six months of silence about there whereabouts, six months of bondage, and six months of continued bondage. Six months is a very long time for anyone to remain cut off from everything human. May God continue to keep them safe and save their souls.

(We will continue.)

Day 169! ………………How Did We Get Here? (120)

“Chibok Girls: BBOG Calls for Global Week of Action”

Someone has come up with the above idea, and I think that it is a good idea if it can be pulled off. Keeping the memory of the girls alive is what we are all doing, but the most important thing now is to send in the troupes to root out the evil that is Boko Haram and free the girls. We hope that the OAU will achieve this, come 1st. of November 2014. We also hope that the world will come clean, and help in taking out those rogues. Let’s not forget that in this world, we are all connected. What affects one affects all. We don’t want Boko Haram to become like ISIS, a pain in the neck for all of us. Rooting them out is the only way for peace to reign.

“France says forces ‘destroyed’ Al-Qaeda arms convoy in Niger”
“French forces launch raid in Niger against al Qaeda units”

Still in the spirit of rooting out Boko Haram, I would like the rest of the world to take a leaf from France on how they are helping Niger with their Boko Haram problem. These killers are all over Africa, and they are violently but resolutely fencing in Nigeria and the surrounding countries. This is no more a localized fight. They have a plan. Even their local sponsor know that they cannot tame this beast anymore. Other Western countries should please join the fight to completely silence these people.

Two different news items today was heralding the efforts of France in their former territory. May the other nations join them please.

(We will continue.)

Day 168! ………………How Did We Get Here? (119)

“W.African force to counter Boko Haram operational ‘from November’”

We have heard about this coalition before, and nothing came of it. Now they have given us a date. Boko Haram has made this new venture an all out war. It is a venture different from any other that we had experienced before. Therefore, it is the way to go for the AOU not only to take notice, but to send the usual help sent to African countries in distress. So far, they have wasted too much time coming to this realization, and taking action.

Nigeria has asked for help since the Chibok girls were abducted, maybe not before because they hoped to be able to deal with Boko Haram themselves. But Boko Haram has since developed from a gang of ragamuffins to one in alliance with Al-Quaida, and now are waging full fledged war on Nigeria.

So far, we have not seen the effect of the help promised by some nations of the world, that is, if they are giving any help at all. Today, I happen to see America sending troupes to Liberia to help fight Ebola. We did not see any such help from American following their promise to help. Rather, we heard about how the Nigerian Military blocked their attempt to help. Check out the following headline.

“Nigeria: Why Nigerian Military Has Difficulty Getting Arms From America – U.S. Govt.”

Is America by blocking the sales of arms to Nigeria helping Nigeria in any way? America blames this action by sighting human rights infringements by the Nigerian Military. Maybe. But has our Military proved to be worse than Boko Haram?

(We will continue.)

Day 167!………………How Did We Get Here? (118)

“Nigeria threatens South Africa over ‘frozen’ weapons deal”

It is very unfortunate for the Nigerian authorities, especially the government, to show so much weakness to the world. Boko Haram knows about this weakness. This is why they are beating the country bloody. Whatever happened to make the whole world refuse to sell arms to Nigeria, for Nigeria now have to buy arms clandestinely? It must be the fault of the people charged with negotiating for the arms.

Knowing my country men well, those charged, must have demanded not 10% but probably 60% as kick-back from the sellers. That is how things are done in Nigeria, but not with the rest of the world, and absolutely not with buying arms at times like these. The people charged with negotiating for arms are the real saboteurs. They are the ones causing this whole problem for the rest of us.

Going by the amount in question, it is clear that $9.3, or $5.7 millions, respectively, is just a drop in the water, compared to the billions we have been told was loaned to the Military for arms. Where is the rest of the money? Already shared out I am sure.

I am one of those that have advocated that South Africa keep that money. Nigeria must find a clean open way of doing business if they want to be trusted, or they will continue to suffer the consequences.

“Nigeria president rejects claim of $100 million net worth”

Look at the above headline. I heard that those who made this claim have since run for cover, without a trace. Very well. I will not comment also, but we all know that there is no smoke without fire. If the president want us to believe him, he must allow himself to be audited.

(We will continue.)

Day 166! ………………How Did We Get Here? (117)

“Report on $10.8bn missing oil money ready Nov —Okonjo-Iweala”
“Initially, it was $48 billion, then $20 billion, but the figure we have always had is $10.8 billion.”

The whole world can now see what is happening to Nigeria’s oil money. These thieves in the government are bleeding the nation raw. Our Central Bank has become the private bank of these officials who walk in, withdraw money, and smuggle their loot out of the country. Most of the time, they are not caught, and the few times they are caught, they are quick to come up with excuses and reasons why the money was being smuggled out. Only God will save Nigeria from the hands of her thieves in high places.

“Lt. Col, 15 others to face trial over Chibok girls”

Finally, the Military is taking actions against the botched defense of Chibok when those girls were abducted. The news had it that the soldiers closest to Chibok were alerted of the assault, but they chose not to intervene. According to the latest news, the commanders of the soldiers who jettisoned their duty are now building up their defense to save their necks. At last, someone, or some people responsible for this failure will answer for their crime. It is a crime not to do the job one is paid to do.

“Five Reasons To Pay Attention to Boko Haram’s Latest Video”

The reasons given in this article clearly shows that Boko Haram is now getting help directly from Al-Quaida. They are becoming more sophisticated not only with their weapons, but also with their tactics. The world should really pay attention now before things get worse.

(We will continue.)

Day 165! ………………How Did We Get Here? (116)

“400 Boko Haram insurgents killed in battle to retake Bazza, Michika, Madagali “- See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/10/400-boko-haram-insurgents-killed-battle-retake-bazza-michika-madagali/#sthash.4KDNIwIB.dpuf”

This is fresh news, and you can read in full. Just lick on the link and it will take you there. Let’s continue to pray for the Military in their efforts to stamp out this pest called Boko Haram. I have a feeling that their assaults will end soon. I just hope that the girls will be found and released, that Boko Haram will not use them as a shield to get away, or as revenge kill.

“Fresh arms deal: S-Africa seizes another $5.7m”

First, it was $9.3 millions, and now another $5.7 millions. The Nigerian authorities who was silent about the first one, are now shouting fowl! They have now come out to own up for both monies, claiming that both were intended for buying arms to defeat Boko Haram. Really?! I am sure, they think that the mere mention of Boko Haram will be enough to convince us that the money is not stolen. If it is not stolen money, why were they trying to smuggle it out of Nigeria?

“BreakingNews 4/10/14 – Abubakar Shekau: Nine Lives Or Nine Liars”

Somebody is more angry than I am. This article is from a very angry man, disillusioned with everyone and everything. It is easy to feel this way about Nigeria after the blunder of the government and the Military. Let us hope that both will redeem themselves soon. The writer put two photos of Shekau, the alleged leader of Boko Haram, side by side, and they did not match. It is clear from the two photos that someone is lying.
